* Star & Garter: Blues at the S&G

Music at the Star & Garter For the last few months Sunday evenings at the Star and Garter have been enlivened by Me & The Devil's brand of top class blues. (The excellent Cap'n Velvet has moved to Thursdays).

I'm a sucker for bottleneck and Steve Mole is one of the best exponents I've heard for a long time and he can sing a bit too. Morgen Robbins (harmonica) founded Black Cat Bone with Steve some years back. They became a duo more recently and have since been joined by Tony Hilton on bass. Tony's ex- Howlin' Wilf and Big Joe Louis' Blues Kings and has backed a few big names (see I Jammed....... with Charlie Parker).

Their material is of the best, eg Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters & Sonny Boy Williamson and their recent CD Side By Side is available at the S&G and Roses Records. Highly recommended.Side by Side
