Local News It's been a funny old day. I woke at 11.45am (the middle of the night to me) and have just got home at 03.00 next day. I wouldn't have done it for anyone except Colin.

Sadly, I heard of the demise of our late friend last week and it has taken me this long to get my head around it.

I hope that this will be the first and last funeral gig that I will ever have to review, but, maybe, if they are all of such quality, I could live with a few more (God forbid!).

Anyway, the Methodist Church was packed and the Minister, The Rev Geoffrey Thorpe, did an excellent job. He made a fine address and the church music was good but the eerie thing was 3/4 of Small Wonder (plus Chris Anthony) playing Time After Time. We were all a bit shell-shocked (and probably too respectful) but eventually someone applauded which developed into a standing ovation which (good as the music was) was really all for Colin.

Anyway, afterwards, we all went to the four corners but, at various times, I bumped into mourners at Remedies, The Waterman's, The Beach Cafe, The Chain Locker, The Waterfront, Maz's and, finally, Remedies again. Of course, we would all rather have been at the Pirate but, alas, that was an option no longer open to us.

I've just got home and this is a gut reaction but I guess those are the best kind.

Farewell, old friend, R.I.P., and if, as I suspect, you were looking down, you'd have had a ball. You will be long remembered.

God Bless,
