Brazilian Heatwave! 4pm Sunday 27th August at Trereife House (stable yard) - Tempo Da Festa...
This band play Brazilian music combining groove with classic song-writing. Driven by percussionist Pete Turner and his array of bells, whistles, hand drums and berimbau. The rhythm section is powered by Pete Kubryk-Townsend (bass) and Terry Rodd (drums). A rich veneer of tunes and chords are added by Marc Hadley (flute & sax) and Richard Penrose (keyboards).
They are joined by very special London guest Michele Drees on Spanish guitar and Portuguese vocals. Michele is originally from Cornwall and has been the house drummer on the Jonathan Ross Show with Steve Naïve (Elvis Costello & the Attractions); toured with Fatboy Slim's 'Freak Power' and also, on timbales, with Kirsty McColl's 'Tropical Brainstorm' showband.
Tempo Da Festa will be appearing at the final 'latino party night' of the St Ives Festival fortnight and have sold out a show at Falmouth arts Centre earlier this year.
ADMISSION £7. Tickets available in advance from West Penwith Music and the Rainyday Gallery, Penzance. Enquiries 01736 364440 & 362750
Trereife House is just outside Penzance on the A30, just after the St Just roundabout on the right as the road dips into Newlyn Combe: there are ample signs, you can’t miss it. There are toilet facilities, a café and bar in the stable mews.
