Tues 22 May
JULIAN JOSEPH & STEVE WILLIAMSON

Acclaimed by critics and audiences the world over perhaps the most significant jazz musician this country has ever produced, Julian Joseph never fails to inspire with his mastery of the keyboard, the versatility of his musicianship, and the seemingly limitless scope of his creative imagination. As a pianist he is unsurpassed, as a composer he has brought new vitality to the music, and as a descendent of the jazz greats, he is not only fulfilling their legacy, but promises to become a seminal figure for the twenty-first century.
Steve Williamson is one of the most distinctive saxophone voices in contemporary British jazz. A founder member of the Jazz Warriors, he's collaborated with, among others: Courtney Pine, Andy Sheppard, Tommy Smith, Courtney Pine, Art Blakey and Archie Shepp. It is the powerful presence of tenor giants Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane, combined with the explorations of M-Base founder Steve Coleman, that drive Steve's dynamic and imaginative approach to creating jazz. Tonight he takes centre stage with Julian Joseph, continuing an association that spans over two decades.
