Have missed the S&G for a while but was glad I didn't skip this Monday...
There was a bright new talent to be heard in the form of William Best from St Austell. Barely legal to be present, and having been playing tenor for only eighteen months, after an understandably tentative first set, he came into his own after the break.
Becoming more fluent as his confidence grew, he really let rip; a great version of Moondance being just one example.
He was also joined by another fine young talent, namely Rachel Martin who gave us an excellent interpretation of This Masquerade on her french horn.
The trio were good as ever and the applause for the almost big band finish proved that it had been another great night.
