St Ives Jazz Club launch piano fund...
St Ives Jazz Club – the last jazz club before New York - have launched a 'Buy a Key' fundraising campaign to enable them to buy their 6' Kawai grand piano which they've had on loan from The Bristol Piano Company for the past two years or so. The target is to raise £2,400 by March 2009. So far they've raised nearly one-third of the total, with most donations exceeding the minimum, but there's still a way to go.
The plan is to 'sell' all 88 keys for at least £10 per key. Donors will receive:- A note in their name displayed on a piano keyboard chart in the Club
- An invitation to a surprise event
- A chance to win free membership for two years
Other fundraising events are in the pipeline, including a Piano Fund gig where the musicians will donate their fees.
Many of the Club's members are working artists with nationwide reputations, so an 'Art Draw' offering donated works might also be on the cards.
Since they've had the piano the Club has attracted some top class pianists such as:Geoff Eales
Jonathan Gee
Mike Gorman
Frank Harrison
John Horler
Julian Joseph
John Law
Edgar Macias
Giovanni Mazzarino
Craig Milverton
Robert Mitchell
