I had a very pleasant surprise last Monday when I discovered that the legendary Viv Rodd was covering for his former pupil, Max, in Scotland for a christening...

It has been many years since I've had the pleasure of hearing Viv but the whole gig was fabulous.

It was changes all round as Viv's brother, Terry, was on drums as he has been for the last few weeks. Claudia was playing for a show so the excellent Yan Speake was on bass (congrats to Yan & Pam for tying the knot!) The most familiar face in the line-up was Monty Ray on trumpet and he was in fine form.

A great night!
